A gas cooktop that won’t light or a heater that keeps cutting out leaves you wondering if it’s safe. We fit, service and repair gas appliances from our base right here in Pottsville.

We install, service and repair gas cooktops, ovens and heaters across Pottsville and the Tweed. In NSW, connecting a fixed gas appliance is gasfitting work, and only a licensed gasfitter can do it. Our NSW Contractor Licence (290544C) covers gas fitting, plumbing and drainage, so one local team handles the lot.
Buying a new appliance? Check your gas type first, as appliances are set up for either natural gas or LPG. We can confirm which one your home runs on before you buy. Every gas appliance sold in NSW must also be certified and labelled, and we check that before we connect it.
Every job is tested for leaks before we leave. You also get the paperwork NSW Fair Trading requires. That’s a certificate of compliance for network gas, or a certificate of inspection for bottled gas.
Outdoor LPG regulators and gas connections cop the worst of the coastal salt air. Corroded fittings are one of the first things we check on any Tweed Coast visit.

Most gas appliance faults give you a warning before they get worse. These are the ones that send Tweed homeowners looking for a gasfitter.
“The burner just clicks and clicks, and dinner’s on hold.”
“The flame’s gone yellow and the pots are coming up black.”
“Our heater keeps cutting out, right when the nights cool down.”
“I can smell gas near the cooktop, but only now and then.”
“We bought a new cooktop and don’t know if it suits our gas.”
You shouldn’t have to guess whether a gas appliance is safe to use. We track down what’s causing the fault, fix it, and test the whole appliance before we pack up.
Burners that light first time
We trace ignition faults back to the cause, whether that’s the igniter, the wiring or the gas supply.
Answers on gas smells
We test your appliance and its connections for leaks, find the source and fix it, then test again.
A clean, steady flame
We check the burners and gas flow behind a yellow or sooty flame, so your appliance burns the way it was built to.
New appliances connected legally
We check your gas type and the approval label, connect the appliance, test it and hand you the certificate.
Heaters you can rely on
We service and repair the pilot and ignition faults behind cut-outs, ideally before the cooler months arrive.
Free, no-obligation quotes, with pensioner and senior discounts available. Book in and we’ll come to you anywhere from Pottsville to Kingscliff.
Every visit centres on the appliance itself: connected safely, working properly and signed off.
Need a new gas line run before the appliance goes in? That’s part of our Gas Installations & New Connections work, and both sit within our wider gasfitter services across the Tweed.
We talk through the fault, or confirm the new appliance and your gas type, then quote before any work starts.
We turn the gas off at the meter or cylinder before work begins.
We find and repair the fault, or position and connect the new appliance.
We leak test the appliance and check the flame and safety devices.
We issue your certificate and lodge a copy with NSW Fair Trading within five business days.
We clean up and run the appliance with you before we leave.
Gas hot water systems are covered separately under our hot water work.
Local considerations: Many Tweed Coast homes were built from the early 2000s, so original cooktops and heaters are now 20 years old or more. Parts for older models can be hard to find, so if replacing makes more sense than repairing, we’ll tell you straight.
Our guarantee: Every job is backed by our 100% satisfaction guarantee. We fix it right the first time, or we come back free.
Gas appliance work in NSW falls under the Gas and Electricity (Consumer Safety) Act 2017 and its 2018 Regulation. Here’s what that means for your job.
Connecting or disconnecting a fixed gas appliance is gasfitting work, and only a licensed gasfitter can carry it out.
Every gas appliance must be certified and labelled before it can be sold and installed in NSW.
The gasfitter must test the installation for defects immediately after finishing any gasfitting work.
You receive a certificate of compliance for network gas, or a certificate of inspection and compliance plate for bottled gas.
If a gasfitter can’t explain these steps to you, keep looking.
Gas work happens inside your home, right where your family cooks and keeps warm. You want straight answers and a job handled from start to finish.

No, connecting a fixed gas cooktop is gasfitting work and must be done by a licensed gasfitter. That includes a straight like-for-like swap, which then has to be tested and certified.
If the smell is strong, leave the building straight away and call 000 for Fire and Rescue NSW. Turn the gas off at the meter or cylinder only if it’s safe to do so, then have a licensed gasfitter find the leak.
Not as it is, because natural gas and LPG run at different pressures. A licensed gasfitter first checks whether the appliance is suitable, then converts it with the manufacturer’s approved kit. Some appliances can’t be converted at all.
It can be, so stop using the appliance and have it checked. A yellow or sooty flame can point to incomplete combustion, which can produce carbon monoxide. Decorative gas log fires are the exception, as some are designed to burn yellow.
Follow the manufacturer’s service schedule, which is usually in the manual or on a sticker on the heater. Book in sooner if you notice a yellow flame, soot marks or a pilot that won’t stay lit.
The old gas cooktop has to be disconnected and the gas line sealed off by a licensed gasfitter. It’s gasfitting work, so it’s tested and certified like any other gas job.
A burner that won’t catch or a heater with a lazy yellow flame isn’t something to keep living with. The sooner it’s looked at, the sooner you can cook and stay warm without second-guessing it.
We’ll find the fault, fix it or fit your new appliance, and test everything before we leave. You’ll walk away with your gas certificate and an appliance you can trust.
